LegalVision: Young Lawyers Division Uses Videos to Give Back to the Community and Profession

In March the North Carolina Bar Association celebrated its fifth anniversary of 4ALL, a statewide service day by North Carolina attorneys. It has been a great way for attorneys to give back to the community and increase the accessibility of legal information to thousands across North Carolina. Now, the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association is finding its own unique way to provide a service to North Carolinians and attorneys as well.

Last year the New Lawyers in Practice Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division created “LegalVision.” LegalVision is a video series produced by attorneys across North Carolina. There are two main arms of LegalVision. The first is videos for the general public and the other is videos for other attorneys.

Most of the videos created so far for LegalVision are for the benefit of people across North Carolina. Attorneys in areas such as family law, estate planning, criminal law, workers’ compensation and bankruptcy have created videos answering some of the most basic questions in those practice areas.

Attorneys who have experience in law practice management have made other videos targeted for those in the legal profession. These videos are made for other attorneys so they can obtain tips and suggestions on how to better operate their law practice, which allows them to better serve their clients.
Our goal is to create a video vault that helps those seeking legal information across North Carolina and for North Carolina attorneys who want to learn how they can better practice law. We truly believe LegalVision has the ability to improve the public’s perception of the legal profession.

The videos created are professionally made by the North Carolina Bar Association’s videographer, Bryan Miller. They are then edited by the NCBA staff and placed on the NCBA LegalVision YouTube channel. The attorneys making these videos can then take the videos and place them on their own website.
